Concentrate Mixing Directions

BASIC DIRECTIONS

To Make 1 Quart of Syrup:

Add 1 ounce of concentrate to 1 1/4 pounds of sugar and add enough water to equal one quart. Mix till sugar dissolves.

DETAILED DIRECTIONS

To Make 1 Quart of Syrup:

Mix in A Bottle
  • Put 19 ounces of water in a 1 quart, or larger, bottle. Room temperature or warm water will help the sugar dissolve more quickly.
  • Using a funnel, add 2 cups of sugar plus a heaping 3/4 cup of sugar to the water. (or 1 1/4 pounds of sugar)
  • Put cap on tightly. Shake bottle until sugar dissolves. Kids love to help with this part.
  • Add 1 ounce of concentrate. Shake until mixed.
  • You now have 1 quart of ready to use syrup in your favorite flavor.
Mix in a Pan
  • Put 19 ounces of water in a 2 quart, or larger, pan. You’ll need extra room for vigorous stirring. Use room temperature or warm water so the sugar dissolves more quickly.
  • Add 2 cups sugar plus a heaping 3/4 cup of sugar to the water. (or 1 1/4 pounds of sugar)
  • Stir until sugar dissolves. Kids can help with this part.
  • Add 1 ounce of concentrate. Stir until mixed.
  • Using a funnel, add syrup to a plastic bottle for dispensing.
  • You now have 1 quart of ready to use syrup in your favorite flavor.
SUGAR FREE, LOW-CARB, SYRUP DIRECTIONS

To make 1 quart of syrup substitute Equal, Splenda or other artificial sweetener, for the sugar (2 cups plus a heaping 3/4 cup). No sugar means no carbs. You will need about 1 1/3 of the 2oz boxes of bulk artificial sweetener. Unfortunately, artificial sweetener is more expensive than sugar.
  • Fill your 1 quart bottle about half full with water.
  • Using a funnel, add the sweetener 1 cup at a time, shake to dissolve, and repeat until all the sweetener is dissolved in the water.
  • Add the concentrate and add enough water to equal 1 quart. Shake until mixed.

    Hints:
    • Use room temperature water so sugar dissolves more readily.
    • Use a funnel to add ingredients to the bottle.
    • Add water to the bottle first and sugar second to keep the sugar from clumping on the bottom of the bottle.
    • Don’t add concentrate till the last step. This allows you to see that the sugar is all dissolved.
    • One ounce concentrate per quart of syrup is the industry standard. However, you can adjust the taste of your syrup by using a little more or a little less concentrate. For a stronger flavor try 1 1/2 ounces of concentrate per quart of syrup. For a lighter flavor try 1/2oz concentrate per quart. With concentrate you can make your syrup the way you like it.
    • You can use any clean plastic bottle with a tight screw on cap for mixing. Clean your empty soda or water bottles for use in mixing syrup. Or, you can purchase our mixing bottles which have graduated 1 ounce measurements, an easy grip neck and come with a tight fitting cap.
    • Syrup made with the standard recipe of 1 1/4 pounds of sugar per quart of water is about 70 calories and 18 grams carbohydrate per ounce.
    Cautions:

Please use caution when mixing concentrate. Concentrate may stain skin and fabric.

    STORING SYRUP & CONCENTRATE

  • Refrigeration is not necessary, but both concentrate and syrup will last longer if stored in a refrigerator.
  • You will get the longest shelf life if stored in a dark area like a kitchen cabinet or pantry.
  • Exposure to light promotes mold growth.
